Endodontics is a complex and demanding field, and carries a high rate of malpractice claims. So it makes sense to refer the more complex cases to a dentist with the advanced skills, knowledge and equipment that are so often needed to complete treatment successfully.

Maslinda Mohamad graduated in Singapore in 1997, and has worked exclusively in this field since gaining her Masters degree at Guy's Hospital in 2002.

She is happy to accept all endodontic referrals, and particularly enjoys the challenge of difficult cases, re-treatments and endodontic surgery.

For patients who are nervous about undergoing endodontic treatment, we are able to offer a choice of sedation services, plus aromatherapy and reflexology.

Why you should refer

In a field as complex as endodontics, it is not always easy to know when to refer. We usually recommend GDPs to refer patients who fall under complexity codes 2 and 3, based on the Restorative Index of Treatment Need
(FDS, RCS Eng 2001).

Other factors also need to be taken into account, including re-treatment, difficult access and the patient's medical history.

Complexity code 1 can be performed by any dental graduate.

Complexity code 2 can be performed by any experienced dentist.

Complexity code 3 can be performed by any dentist with skills developed following specialist training.

We are happy to discuss any cases with you if you are unsure of the need for referral.
